The Temperature is Rising

Another beautiful day on the Bay!
Another beautiful day on the Bay!

¡Hola from El Sargento!

Well, the wind has definitely settled down and the temperature is rising here in La Ventana Bay. We have had some awesome days, and this morning the water is again calm and beautiful. Looks like a huge lake out there. Chay is out there with rod and reel today trying to locate some tuna. Sophie and I were down at the beach this morning taking photos for you guys. The local fishermen were getting bait just offshore and the pelicans were holding Sophie’s attention. Lots of talk of Tuna (¡Atunes grandes!) and still some Yellowtail around. The water is still cool, but changing fast. That is what seems to happen here each year. The wind stops, the temperature rises and the underwater action is amazing. It has been great to have ahi sashimi on the table!

We’ve been grateful for the response to the Thetis Bank Trips in the fall. There are still some spots left, so take a look at your calendar and see what you can do to get in on the adventure. Book before the end of next month and you’ll get a break on the cost. The guys last year had a great time… some are already signed up to do it again.

In case you haven’t seen it, there is a page on our website where you can go before your arrival to get the required fishing license for Mexico. Just click on the link and you can print out your license and bring it with. It is in Spanish, so if that doesn’t work for you, we can always help out by getting one for you. Just thought I would mention it because we have been getting email questions regarding fishing license requirements.

Ciao for now,
Linda and Chay

ps: Chay did get a tuna…..a bit bigger than the last…

Fish Report

There is still some Yellowtail out there! But the main talk is of the Tuna that has started to show up. Definitely a transition period for fishing. Yellowtail are thinning out, though…but there have been sightings of Wahoo and Marlin as well as some small Amberjacks cruising the high spots. Fun and interesting stuff! We have also seen plenty Pargos on the reefs.
~ Cheers, Chay
